There is no one brand that all the drivers use and everyone has a different opinion on what make or model is the best. Get yourself down to your local track and start talking to the other drivers. Find the guy or girl who is driving really well and ask them what go cart they have. They will love to tell you! We fanatics love talking about our machines and the improvements we made to them. In fact you might get so much information, it may be a smart idea to bring a pencil and notepad so you can remember all the info.

There are a fair amount of go carts out there that are hybrids of different models. Although it may not be as exciting as the wheels or chassis or engine, it is the part of the kart that is going to help you win the race.

You need to appropriate rotation between the transmission, the clutch and the cart engine. If you do not have the best possible clutch, your ability to properly shift gears will be compromised. Proper maintenance of your clutch cannot be stressed strongly enough. You should oil the inside of the clutch to avoid it slipping against the drum. If this happens the clutch could be ruined. Clean the clutch after every race as well. You can clean the outside of the clutch using any lubricant that you trust and a clean cloth. After a while, you will enjoy maintaining go carts as much as you enjoy racing them.

The chassis of go carts is vitally important. It supplies the racer with the stability and balance they need to win and the traction control they need to keep safe. The perfect chassis will work in flawless combination with the motor and suspension.

Using a chassis that has not be designed to have proper balance can be every dangerous. When you hit a sharp turn, the cart could roll over very easily. Also the top of your chassis must be strong enough to support itself and not crumple should you roll over.

Do not try and make your own chassis. They need to be made by an expert company who knows exactly what they are doing. This is important for both your safety and your performance out on the racetrack.
