Make sure you look for a helmet that is approved and certified. If you are unsure which brand of helmet to buy, ask the people down at the track. They will tell you which helmet is the best, the lightest and offers the most ventilation.

Most drivers also wear a carting collar. These cart accessories will help absorb the force of impact and could save you from being out of action for a few months due to whiplash. Again, make sure that it is certified. Also look for one that is made from fire-retardant foam and has a removable cover so that you can clean it easily before and after your race.
