Our plow is great for moving snow but it can also be used to move
other things as well. I use it frequently for moving brush and tree
branches and I’ve also used it for moving gravel and light grading.
I know other folks who use plows on utility vehicles to clean out
barns and move other animal waste Our
plow has 3 horizontal pushing angles that are easily adjusted with
the spring loaded ‘ t ’ handle. The vertical angle is
almost infinitely adjustable with moveable, bolted on adjusting
blocks. The pre-load on the trip springs are adjustable, so you
can make the resistance appropriate for the loads you’re pushing
and the surface you’re driving on. |

Trip
Springs
Trip Springs are the springs that hold the plow blade in
the upright position. When you hit a solid obstacle on the ground
(maybe a curb or raised expansion crack in the road or driveway),
the springs allow the plow to rotate forward so the plow can pass
over the obstacle without passing the force of impact through the
vehicle. |

Installation
Initial set-up of the plow is a piece of cake, and all the
parts you need are included. Very
basic mechanical skills and simple wrenches are required. A trained
monkey probably couldn’t do it, but our interns can –
so you know it’s easy.
After
initial set-up, the plow can be removed or re-installed without
any tools. Two 5/8” clevis pins are all that hold the plow
to the vehicle. Remove the pins, and the plow’s push tube
releases from the vehicle. Piece of cake
Raising and lowering the plow
The plow is raised and lowered from the safety and comfort
of the cab of the vehicle by an electric winch. |

Electric
Winch
It’s
a 2,000lb winch, and the 50 foot cable comes with a steel hook on
the end. It’ll easily pull the vehicle up hills and out of sticky
situations, even with a load in the back (depending on how steep the
hill, or how sticky the situation, sometimes the load has to be taken
out of the dump bed). The
winch mounts neatly under the hood, behind the front bumper. Power
is provided by the vehicles electric system, and all the wiring
and parts needed are included with the package. The winch activator
switch can be located just about anywhere in the cab. I cut a hole
in the plastic dash with a Dremel tool and mounted my switch within
easy reach. It can also be bolted to some of the exposed frame members
in the cab, thus eliminating the need for cutting the dash. However,
cutting the dash really easy and looks so much nicer…
